Dear Tzu Chings,
 
Welcome back! Thank you for always supporting us and we look forward to bringing you another great year of fun and inspiring events.
 
We also want to extend a warm welcome to our new members. To learn more about our organization and events, come to our Fall Orientation this Friday (Oct 9th)! We will meet at Round Table Pizza at 6 PM for dinner, and then head over to Thurgood Marshall Room at 6:30 PM

Happy Campus
Fridays, Oct 9, 16, 23, and 30 @ Croutons at the Student Service Center for rides, 1 PM
Every Friday, Tzu Chings tutor students in math and English at Herbert Ibarra Elementary School. Our goal is to teach them the meaning of love, respect, and gratitude and integrate it into their lifestyle.
 
Everybody Reads
Oct 18 (Sun) @ Peterson Loop for rides, 8 AM

Twice a month, Tzu Chings tutor K-12 children from low-income families in math, English, and/or other school subjects at the Crown Heights Community Resource Center in Oceanside. We also help promote Still Thoughts.
 
Convalescent Home
Oct 24 (Sat) @ Peterson Loop for rides, 9 AM
Every month, Tzu Chings pay a visit to the Convalescent Home to brighten the day of the elderly by performing musical and dance numbers, playing interactive games (such as charades), and chatting with them.

Care Harbor Medical Outreach
Oct 17 (Sat), 7AM-5PMLos Angeles Sports Arena 3939 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90014

The Care Harbor Medical Outreach is the largest annual Tzu Chi medical event held in the U.S. You will be able to volunteer alongside medical professionals to help out provide free medical services for people without insurance. Also meet Tzu Ching from different chapters, such as from UCLA and UCI!

International Tzu Ching Leadership Conference
December 20-27, 2015 @ Hualien, Taiwan

This is a week-long leadership camp where you can meet Tzu Ching from all over the world at the origin and birthplace of Tzu Chi Foundation. Come to learn a lot about Tzu Chi and networking with students and alumni on an international scale!

  • How to sign up: You can send an email to ucsdtzuching@gmail.com or ask an exec officer.
  • FINANCIAL AID OPPORTUNITY: 2015 Travel Expense Aid Program for USA Tzu Ching. This Aid program is designed to help ease the costs of the expensive plane tickets and to encourage USA Tzu Ching to attend this camp.
  • Deadline: October 20, 2015
 
US TCCA Career Mentor Program

This is a new program designed to help bridge the gap between generations, while helping college students find relatable career guidance. You will be matched with a Tzu Chi Alumni/SG/SB in their career field of interest. Your mentor serves as a resource for career advice, can provide guidance regarding interviews/resumes/cover letters/etc. within their industry.

  • How to sign up: If you’ve been with Tzu Chi or Tzu Ching for at least six months, please send an email of interest to ucsdtzuching@gmail.com or contact an exec officer so we can give you more specifics on the application process.
  • Deadline: October 15, 2015 8:00pm PST
